Dr. Beers was born in NYC

and graduated from Manhattan College in 1962.  He went on to earn his Ph.D in Physics at Yale in 1968.  He had a 12 year research career, followed by 20 years as partner in a privately founded and operated high-tech services company.
After retiring from the business world, he started a 17 year career teaching Physics and Math at the College of Southern Maryland.  He moved to Hanover and begin teaching at SJPII Tutorial in 2018.

Religion

 Bro. Patrick, originally from Kansas, has been a member of the Trinitarian religious Order since 1975.  In that time, he has served in various parts of the country in many different ministries.  He has taught religion on the elementary, middle school and high school levels as well as adult education.  He received his BME in music education-music therapy at the University of Kansas and his MA in theology from the Ecumenical Institute of St Mary's Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland.

  Katherine has been in the field  

of education for six years. Her most significant work experience was teaching 9th-12th grade theology at Archbishop Spalding High School from 2013-2018. She holds a B.A. in Secondary Education -- Social Studies from Duquesne University, an M.A. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame, and a master’s degree in Education (Ed. M.) from Harvard University. Each of these degrees exemplify her passion for learning, which directly influences her passion for teaching. Her teaching philosophy is to uphold the dignity of every student by being a model of love to and for them through the process of education. Everything she does in the classroom is intentional and rooted in God’s love. She and her husband attend St. Lawrence and are expecting their 1st child in December (2019)!

 

Erin Klarner

Erin holds a B.A. in history and political science from Loyola College (MD), and a M.A. in history from the University of Notre Dame (IN). While pursuing graduate study she also took concentrations in classics and theology, and is proficient in several languages. She began teaching in 2004 and hasn't stopped yet, so far having covered 6th grade to college. She is a lifetime member of Half-Shire Historical Society (NY) - having already logged eighteen years of that sentence! - and has previously served as their school liaison and as a deputy municipal historian. She is also trained as a first-person historical interpreter.  She lives in Baltimore City.

Jeanette Cohn

Jeanette began her professional career in the medical field working as a private duty nurse.  She became involved with homebound children and felt the call to teach.  In 1985, she earned her bachelor’s degree at USF in Exceptional Education with a minor in Child Development.  She worked in public and private school systems for 13 years, until she started homeschooling her children in 1998.  In 2000 she became a tutor for high school homeschool students teaching Grammar/ Composition, Literature, Biology and History courses.  In 2007 she helped establish the unique Formation Cooperative, SJPII Academy, serving homeschoolers through 8th grade.  In 2015 she founded SJPII Tutorial modeling after the same pedagogy as the Cooperative.
